An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to companies and certain other associations :
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :—
PART I
PRELIMINARY
Short title, commencement and extent
Section -(1) This Act may be called the Companies Act, 1956.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
