Operational Controls

The nature of the controls in place to manage operational risk must be commensurate with the scale and complexity of the derivatives activity being undertaken. The operational controls could in addition to segregation of duties, cover aspects such as:

 trade entry and transaction documentation

 confirmation of trades

 settlement and disbursement

 reconciliations

 revaluation

 exception reports

 accounting treatment

 audit trail
